Disney Store in Chicago to Participate in First-Ever Global Live Toy Unboxing Event on Sept. 3

Pasadena, Calif. — Aug. 27, 2015 — Disney Store is preparing to feel the Force on Friday, Sept. 4, in celebration of the global retail set date for product from the highly anticipated film Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Disney Store locations in New York City in Times Square, Chicago on Michigan Avenue, and San Francisco on Stockton Street will participate in midnight madness. Doors will open at 12:01 a.m. local time on Sept. 4, giving fans the first opportunity to see and purchase toys, collectibles, books, apparel and more from the upcoming film. In addition, the first 1,000 guests will receive a free Star Wars: The Force Awakens D23 commemorative fan poster.

On Thursday, Sept. 3, the Disney Store on North Michigan Avenue in Chicago will play host to one of 14 live toy unboxing events happening around the world to reveal new toys. Starting at 8:30 a.m. CDT, HobbyKidsTV, a family-friendly YouTube channel part of the Maker Studios network, will be broadcasting live from inside the Store, unveiling new products from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, available exclusively at Disney Store and DisneyStore.com.

In ALL Disney Store locations throughout North America, doors will open for business on Force Friday with Star Wars-themed opening ceremonies, offering a galactic twist on the traditional “Unlocking Imagination” ritual. Other activities taking place at Disney Store locations (excluding Disney Store Outlets) on Force Friday include:

  • A free commemorative Star Wars: The Force Awakens pin for the first 100 guests who make a purchase on Force Friday
  • Numerous Star Wars events taking place, including:
    • R2-D2 craft activity
    • Ways of the Force
    • Star Wars Story Time
    • Art of Drawing: R2-D2
    • Free Topps vintage trading card giveaway upon completion of an in-store event and while supplies last
    • Epic Star Wars theming that pays homage to both the Dark Side and the Light

On DisneyStore.com, fans can enjoy special Limited Edition product, as well as free shipping on all            Star Wars items from Sept. 4 – Sept. 6.

Global Toy Unboxing Event

Beginning Sept. 3, fans across the world will get a sneak peak of new product inspired by Star Wars: The Force Awakens and available at retailers worldwide via the world’s first-ever global live toy unboxing event on the Star Wars YouTube channel. Unfolding over 18 hours in 15 cities and 12 countries, the event will see highlights from the range of epic merchandise revealed in a rolling New Year’s Eve style celebration.

 

The live stream kicks off with the first unboxing in Sydney, Australia at 7:45 a.m. local time on Thursday, Sept. 3 (5:45 p.m. EDT on Wednesday, Sept. 2), and concludes with a grand finale at Lucasfilm in San Francisco at 8 a.m. PDT (11 a.m. EDT) on Thursday, Sept. 3.

Fans can tune in to watch live unboxings at home or on mobile devices, and also enjoy the latest trailers on the upcoming movie, commentary from special guests, fun product videos and demos, and footage from recent Star Wars events. The full schedule is available at www.StarWars.com.

DISNEY STORE TO UNVEIL ALL-NEW PRODUCT COLLECTIONS AT D23 EXPO 2015

Glendale, Calif. — July 23, 2015 — Disney Store today announced the all-new collections and Limited Editions set to launch at this year’s D23 EXPO 2015, Disney’s ultimate fan event held at the Anaheim Convention Center August 14–16. Located within the Disney Consumer Products Pavilion at D23 EXPO, the Disney Store shop will feature new and exclusive products showcased throughout more than 3,000 sq. ft. of retail space. New items celebrating everyone’s favorite characters will be unveiled each day throughout the weekend.

 

In addition to offering attendees the chance to shop special products not yet available to the general public, fans will also have the chance to meet the artists and designers who created these exciting new collections and be treated to the official Disney Store opening ceremony on Friday, August 14. During the ceremony, a special attendee will be chosen to “unlock imagination” at 9 a.m. alongside some of Disney's most famous characters.

 

D23 EXPO attendees will get a first look at collections making their debut at the event, including the next installment of the popular Disney Fairytale Designer Collection; a Limited Edition Doll Collection from ABC Studios’ television series Once Upon a Time; Toy Story 20th Anniversary; and Disney Tsum Tsum.

 

Highlights of the new collections include:

 

  • Disney Fairytale Designer Collection – Happily ever after meets happily evil in Disney Store’s newest series of the Disney Fairytale Designer Collection being previewed at D23 EXPO. Featuring five sets of Limited Edition pairs, these collector doll sets were designed by Disney Store artists and carefully crafted to capture the beauty and romance of fairytale friends and foes.

 

Available for the first time at D23 EXPO, guests can pre-purchase the complete set of five Hero/Villain pairs prior to the general public pre-sale beginning online Monday, September 14.

 

Following the preview at D23 EXPO, the doll sets will be released and available for purchase in stores and online starting September 29, with a new pair released each week. Each set is limited to an edition of 6,000 globally and comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. 

 

This line expands into a collection of apparel, mugs, journals, home décor and more, available to the general public in stores and online on September 14.

 

  • Once Upon a Time – Continuing the ‘heroes and villains’ theme, Disney Store will introduce the Once Upon a Time Snow White and Evil Queen Doll Collection, available exclusively at D23 EXPO. Limited to an edition of 300, the doll collection, inspired by ABC Studios’ television series Once Upon a Time, brings to life the beauty, magic and charm of the iconic fairytale characters from the show.

 

Exclusively for guests who purchase the doll set at D23 EXPO, Ginnifer Goodwin (Snow White) and Lana Parrilla (The Evil Queen) will be available for an autograph signing at the ABC booth on the D23 EXPO floor from 4 – 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 15. This special opportunity will be followed by the Once Upon a Time panel taking place in Stage 23 from 6 – 7 p.m.

 

  • Star Wars – Disney Store will launch an exclusive collection of Star Wars items at the EXPO on Friday, August 14. The collection will feature apparel, collectibles, and toys, including the Star Wars Elite Series, a new line of highly articulated and detailed die cast action figures, representing characters from Star Wars Episodes I-VI. The action figures will be sold individually at Disney Store locations beginning later this year; however, EXPO attendees have the opportunity to purchase the full set of Star Wars Elite Series action figures, which includes D23 EXPO-exclusive versions of R2-D2 and C-3PO.

 

Additionally at D23 EXPO, Disney Store will introduce Star Wars Legion Helmets, a series of eight vinyl collectible helmets inspired by the Star Wars Legion Helmet project launched in early 2014. Celebrating creativity and Star Wars, the project pulled together artists from across The Walt Disney Company, resulting in 300 stormtrooper helmets being transformed into diverse pieces of art, which inspired these collectible recreations – epic additions to every Empire.

 

  • Toy Story 20th Anniversary – In celebration of the 20th Anniversary of Disney∙Pixar's Toy Story, Disney Store gleaned art from the adored film’s archives to illustrate the evolution of the beloved characters, Buzz and Woody. Featuring toys, collectibles, apparel and more, this collection will be released at the Disney Store shop at D23 EXPO on Friday, August 14.

 

  • Disney Tsum Tsum – All-new collections of everyone’s favorite stackable plush will be unveiled at D23 EXPO, with one releasing each day in limited quantities in mini, medium and large sizes. In addition, limited-edition mini box series – exclusive to D23 EXPO – will be released along with each collection, and a Mickey Mouse Tsum Tsum mini vinyl figure will be available for $5 with any purchase, while supplies last.

 

Also launching at D23 EXPO is Disney Store’s “Disney 3D Print Studio,” which offers fans the chance to personalize figures, including Marvel’s Iron Man, with their likeness through the use of facial-scanning kiosks. The figures ordered at the event will feature packaging unique to D23 EXPO.

 

New this year, in an effort to minimize wait times for guests, D23 is introducing StorePass at select D23 EXPO shopping locations, including the Disney Store shop. A limited quantity of StorePass tickets will be available starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 14, and while they last, at the StorePass desk located adjacent to the StagePass distribution area in Hall A. About Inside Out 
Do you ever look at someone and wonder what is going on inside their head? Disney•Pixar's original new film "Inside Out" ventures inside the mind to find out. Based in Headquarters, the control center inside 11-year-old Riley's mind, five Emotions are hard at work, led by lighthearted optimist Joy (voice of Amy Poehler), whose mission is to make sure Riley stays happy. Fear (voice of Bill Hader) heads up safety, Anger (voice of Lewis Black) ensures all is fair and Disgust (voice of Mindy Kaling) prevents Riley from getting poisoned—both physically and socially. Sadness (voice of Phyllis Smith) isn't exactly sure what her role is, and frankly, neither is anyone else. When Riley's family relocates to a scary new city, the Emotions are on the job, eager to help guide her through the difficult transition. But when Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley's mind—taking some of her core memories with them—Fear, Anger and Disgust are left reluctantly in charge. Disney Store Grand Openings Are Happening Around You!

Over the past several months, eight Disney Stores have opened throughout the U.S. with exciting Grand Opening ceremonies featuring a festive new song, special appearances and a little bit of Pixie Dust to officially open the Store to Guests.

During the Grand Opening ceremony, one lucky Guest is invited to “unlock imagination” and officially open the Store. This tradition continues daily after Grand Opening day, giving Guests an opportunity to participate in a special and unforgettable Disney Store experience.

Providing fun for the whole family, FREE Mickey Ears are handed out to the first 500 guests and there is plenty of Disney entertainment with additional giveaways while waiting to meet everyone’s favorite Disney Characters!

Looking for a way to celebrate Star Wars Day on Monday, May 4? Look no further!

Disney Store has a great lineup of activities and promotions planned that will really bring the Force!

  • To celebrate Star Wars Day, Disney Store will offer 30% off the entire Star Wars assortment both in-store and online starting TODAY through May 10, 2015.

  • Shop for all your favorite Disney Store Star Wars gear on Twitter via a digital product showcase launching TODAY. Be sure to follow @DisneyStore and @StarWars on Twitter for more details!

  • The first 100 guests who make a purchase at their local Disney Store in the U.S. on Star Wars Day (May 4, 2015) will receive a special Star Wars pin (limit one per guest per store).*

  • A special Stormtrooper Watch will be available for $8 with any purchase in-store and online, only on Star Wars Day.

Additionally, on May 4th, Disney Store locations nationwide will have an exciting atmosphere as music and clips play from the Star Wars films and television series. Guests will be able to take part in Star Wars-themed in-store events including:

  • Star Wars: A New Hope Story Time – Guests will receive a free Star Wars Page Clip if they attend*

Cinderella's Royal Ball In-Stores This Weekend

“Have courage, and be kind…”

In just one week, Disney’s “Cinderella,” a live-action feature film inspired by the classic fairy tale, will premiere in theaters across the US. To celebrate, Disney Store cordially invites Guests to Cinderella’s Royal Ball* on Saturday, March 7th at 10:30 a.m.11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

Those who attend this special in-store event are welcome to dress in their Royal best to take part in a series of lessons to learn that it takes more than wealth and appearance to be a Princess and Prince.

Lessons include:

  • Kindness – Practice the elegance of greeting others politely
  • Respect – Learn how to curtsy and bow
  • Courage – Discover basic fencing skills
  • The grand finale will be a waltz at the Royal Ball!

To share all the action and excitement, Guests are encouraged to take photos during the event and post via social media and tag @DisneyStore. Looking for fashion and accessories fit for royalty? Disney Store has everything you need, from costumes and shoes, to tees and hoodies!
