GRAND OPENING CELEBRATION of the New Disney Store Santa Monica Place - UPDATED

Santa Monica, California is a pretty special place. Situated on the Santa Monica Bay, this city is famous for it's beaches, agreeable climate and cultural diversity. But on Friday, August 6th, it's gonna get a whole lot more magical 'cause that's the day the newly-designed Disney Store celebrates its Grand Opening at Santa Monica Place!

The new Disney Store will offer guests the opportunity to build their own Disney-Pixar CARS-branded RIDEMAKERZ custom car (see photo right,) behold their favorite princess in the Disney Princess Castle's magic mirror and choose a Disney song or short from the video jukebox to watch on the movie screen in the Disney Store Theatre. They'll also be able to select from an expanded assortment of exclusive Disney Store merchandise for kids of all ages, including select Adult Apparel and Disney Parks Authentic Vinylmation.

The festivities start at 10:15 am and are scheduled to go until noon. Oh, and the lucky first 500 guests at the Grand Opening Celebration on Friday will get free Mickey ears!

Update: A little mouse just told me the festivities may include appearances by Mickey, Minnie and "celebrity guests." Also, there may be a showing of a special eight minute trailer of Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment's Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue in the Disney Store Theatre. But, please note, all schedules and appearances are subject to change or cancellation without notice.
