Sensational, Inspirational, Celebrational, Muppetational Handbags (and Wallet!)

By RRicks, Oct 28, 2010 1:43 PM

Kermit Bag Fashion trends may come and go, but one thing fashionistas of all ages can agree on is the cool factor of The Muppets.    I grew up watching The Muppet Show as a kid and all of the characters have a special place in my heart.   One of my favorite characters has always been Kermit and that’s why I’m especially excited about the new Muppets crossbody bags.  I’m always running from here to there and these totes are a  fun alternative to a handbag or perfect for holding magazines, crafty projects, snacks or anything else an on the go gal like myself might need.  Kermit Wallet The checkerboard background and keyboard strap capitalize on the 80’s retro trend that’s happening right now too.  Can I tell you I’m also loving the matching Kermit wallet?  It’s super slim so it will hold everything securely without taking up too much room.  Now if I could only keep my teenage niece from permanently borrowing them from me.  I guess the perfect solution would to get her the Animal crossbody bagMuppets Bag #1 She’s up on all the new, cool stuff and I know she’d just love the hot pink and yellow graphic of Animal’s face.  It’s perfect for after-school errands with mom and dad or hanging out with friends over the weekend.   We’ll both be putting our best, most fashionable foot forward with our cool new cross-body bags from DisneyStore.com!

Enter to Win a Trip to the Disney Store Times Square Grand Opening Celebration!

 Unlock the Magic Sweepstakes
The Big Apple.  Manhattan.  Gotham.  The City That Never Sleeps.  These are just a few nicknames for New York City, all of which evoke images of energy, sophistication, culture, color and excitement.  And, on November 9th, Father Knickerbocker (another New York nickname that dates back to the city's dutch roots) will be able to add "magic" to his list of descriptors because, on that date, the crown jewel of the new Disney Stores will celebrate it's Grand Opening in Times Square.  The festivities will include celebrity appearances, live musical performances, a parade of Disney's most beloved characters and interactive experiences store-wide.

And right now, you can enter an online contest on Family.com to win a trip to the grand opening celebration and a starring role during the magical opening ceremony.  That's right.  The winning family of 4 will join the fun in-person, receive a $250 shopping spree, and have the distinction of their child taking the stage to turn the key to imagination and officially unlock the all-new Disney Store in Times Square. The lucky family will also meet award winning singer Jordin Sparks during a private VIP reception after she performs Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" theme song, which she rerecorded to celebrate the 2010 release of the Blu-Ray and DVD.  They'll then join VIPs, celebrities, tourists from around the world and New York guests in exploring the magical new store.  Pretty fabulous, right?

So hurry over to Family.com to enter the sweepstakes.  The lucky family of four will be notified on October 27th.  Best of luck, everyone!

8 Fun Ideas for Getting Into the Spirit of (a Disney) Halloween

By Gina, Oct 15, 2010 5:36 PM

Minnie Mouse Candy Corn Ear Hat
There are only a couple of weeks left until Halloween, and if you are anything like me, you're already getting giddy with excitment.  But why wait until October 31st to start enjoying the holiday?  Here are 8 ideas for ways you and your family can start getting into the spirit of things.

T Rex Costume 1        If you haven't done so already, start shopping for Halloween costumes with your kids  and let them choose their favorite one.  No kids?  Find a spooktacular costume for yourself.

2        Pick out a fun Halloween trick or treat bucket to hold all the goodies collected on the big night.

3        Have a contest to see who can come up with the corniest Halloween jokes.  Here's one to get you started:  What do you call a fat Jack-O-Lantern?  A Plumpkin.

JackSkellingtonCupcakes 4        Bake a delicious batch of Jack Skellington cupcakes.  Frost some devils food cupcakes with white buttercream frosting and using a toothpick, lightly etch the outlines of two large Jack Skellington eyes in the frosting.  Carefully pipe black decorator's icing (available in tubes at many grocery stores) onto the etched lines and then fill in the inner circles.  Use another toothpick to spread and smooth the icing.  Pipe on two short lines for a nose.  Next, pipe a long line across the bottom of the cupcake for the mouth.  For the finishing spooky touch, randomly top the mouth with a bunch of short icing barbs.  Yum!

5        Decorate your home in frightfully fun Halloween decorations.

Mickey & Friends Halloween Sweatshirt 6        Incorporate some Halloween into your wardrobe during the weeks leading up to the big day.

7        Invite some friends over for a miniature pumpkin hunt.  It's like an easter egg hunt, only with miniature pumpkins.  After all the pumpkins have been found, you can have fun decorating them using markers.

8        Plan an evening with family and friends to watch Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas  on dvd.

What are some of the fun things you and your family to celebrate Halloween?
