Flashback Friday: Epcot Edition

By Official Disney Store Blogger, Sep 28, 2012 9:59 AM

This October 1, Epcot is celebrating its 30th anniversary, and we're celebrating at the Buzz by taking a look back at Epcot then and now!

When Epcot opened on October 1, 1982 Future World was home to World of Motion, a journey through the history of transportation.

World Of Motion
Today, that space is home to Test Track, which gives guests a thrilling race using the latest and greatest in automobile design.

The Land pavilion in Future World was originally home to Kitchen Kabaret, an audio-animatronic show about healthy eating.

Kitchen Kabaret
Today, that space is home to Soarin', where guests can fly over the beautiful landscape of California without ever buying a plane ticket.

On Epcot's opening day, you could have visited El Rio de Tiempo in the Mexico pavilion of World Showcase to learn about Mexican culture and history.

El Rio de Tiempo, still under construction

Today, you can still experience all the culture and history of Mexico, but with a little help from our favorite feathered friends, on the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros!

Epcot has changed quite a bit since opening day, one thing remains the same: Spaceship Earth! Although the attraction itself has been reimagined a few times since 1982, our favorite geodesic sphere still inspires the same vision of people around the world working together to create a better tomorrow.

Our Top Picks for Fall

By Official Disney Store Blogger, Sep 24, 2012 9:00 AM

Feel a crisp coolness in the air? Notice the leaves of your backyard trees turning warm shades of brown and orange? Fighting the urge to curl up by a fireplace with a good book and mug of hot apple cider?

All the signs are there: it must be fall!

We absolutely love fall at Disney Store, because it means getting our favorite sweaters, scarves, boots and more out of the closet. Here's a few of our favorite items to get you in the spirit of the season.

Mascot Mickey Mouse Sweater

Fall means its football season, and this sweater shows Mickey Mouse all dressed up and ready to go to the game! It'll keep you warm even at the chilliest of fall football games, and we love the plum color for this time of year!

The Nightmare Before Christmas Scarf
Fall is the time that we transition from Halloween to Christmas, but we'd like to think we make the switch more smoothly than Jack Skellington did in The Nightmare Before Christmas. Even if he wasn't so great at making holidays collide, he still looks great on this scarf.
The Muppets Kermit Knit Hat

Did you know that your head, face, and chest are five times more sensitive to changes in temperature than anywhere else in your body? That's why a hat on a cold day makes you feel so much cozier! This Kermit the frog hat will keep you warm and stylish.

Personalizable Hooded Cinderella Jacket for Girls

Fall is also back-to-school time, and we know how important it is for kids to feel like their fashion sense stands out. This Cinderella jacket can be customized with your little princess' name so she feels truly unique when she leaves for class.

Winnie the Pooh Hat and Gloves Set for Baby

Even the littlest family members need to get bundled up when fall comes around, and who better to help with that than Winnie the Pooh. This matching hat and gloves set is knit to keep baby warm, and the pale yellow and brown colors will fit right in with the falling leaves outside.

Happy fall, Buzz readers!

Flashback Friday: Sports with Goofy

By Official Disney Store Blogger, Sep 21, 2012 9:00 AM

Today is the first day of fall, and here at the Buzz, we think there's no better season for sports. Football season has just started, baseball season is in full swing, and basketball season is right around the corner! Plus, this year, we're still enjoying watching replays of our favorite Olympic athletes from the summer games.

Even though we love Tom Brady, LeBron James, and Gabby Douglas, there's no contest for our favorite athlete: it's Goofy!

Ever since Goofy made his first appearance as a member of the audience in the 1932 short Mickey's Revue, his well-intentioned missteps have been making Disney fans chuckle. He's starred in 48 Goofy cartoons, had his own television show, Goof Troop, and even his own movie, A Goofy Movie, but to many fans, Goofy is best known for his silly shorts that revolved around him learning to play sports.

The Art of Skiing
In 1941, Goofy hit the slopes in The Art of Skiing.

How to Play Baseball
The next year, he stepped up to the plate in How to Play Baseball.

How to Play Football
"Dog pile" took on a whole new meaning in 1944's How to Play Football.

Hockey Homicide
Goofy learned about good sportsmanship in 1945's Hockey Homicide.

Double Dribble
In 1946, Goofy took a shot at basketball in Double Dribble.

If you can't get enough of the Goof, check out DisneyStore.com for some great items that pay tribute to his sporty history!
