What changes do you want do make for 2013?
What changes do you want do make for 2013?
Pasadena, California is home to two of our favorite things: Disney Store home base, and the annual Rose Parade! This Flashback Friday, we're putting the two together and telling you all about Disney's history with the Rose Parade.
The Rose Parade has been inspiring creativity with its all-flower floats since 1890, but Disney's involvement with this Southern California tradition blossomed on New Year's Day of 1938. Can you guess why this particular year was chosen?
In 1966, Walt Disney had the honor of acting as the Grand Marshal of the Rose Parade. Sadly, it was his last New Year's, as he passed away on December 15, 1966. Since then, Walt's nephew Roy E. Disney, and Mickey Mouse have both served as Grand Marshal.
Disney has held a few records during its history with the Rose Parade. In 2004, our float celebrating the new Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure became the tallest in Rose Parade history, at 110 feet. It captured the thrill of the attraction by including live performers trapped in an elevator dangling from the top. Our 2006 float celebrating Disneyland's 50th Anniversary also took the record for the longest float at the time it debuted.
This year, the theme of the Rose Parade is "Oh, the Places You'll Go," and Disney is going to Cars Land! Tune in to the 124th Rose Parade on January 1 on ABC to see Radiator Springs turn flower-power into racing horsepower like never before, or better yet, come visit us in Pasadena and watch the parade live.
Lightning McQueen, Sally, Guido, and all the rest of the gang from Cars will be zooming down the parade route sooner than you can say "ka-chow!"
This holiday season we've shared some gift guides full of our favorite home decor, budget-friendly, and stocking stuffer treats, but what better gift guide is there than tips from your fellow Disney Store fans?

Anabananaorama really enjoyed our holiday decorations. What better reason to go shopping than to take in the Christmas cheer?

Everyone loves Disney animation, and that includes the people who make the magic happen! Last week at the Disney Store on the Disney Studio Lot in Burbank, Calif., Disney employees and their families had a special opportunity to meet some of the artists behind The Art of Wreck-It Ralph.
The Art of Wreck-It Ralph, a new book by Jennifer Lee and Maggie Malone, explores the story development and artistic vision of Walt Disney Feature Animation's latest film. Art directors Mike Gabriel and Ian Gooding and visual development artists Lorelay Bove and Cory Loftis were on hand to sign copies of the book, and meet Ralph's biggest fans.
